The Town of Diana is home to the Adirondack Grange #530, located on Route 3 in Harrisville. The grange has been in the town of Diana since 1893.
The Grange, is a social organization in the United States that encourages families to band together to promote the economic and political well-being of the community and agriculture.
In 2005, the Grange had a membership of 160,000, with organizations in 2,100 communities in 36 states. It is headquartered in Washington, D.C., in a building built by the organization in 1960. Many rural communities in the United States still have a Grange Hall and local Granges still serve as a center of rural life for many farming communities.
Grange membership has declined considerably as the percentage of American farmers has fallen from a third of the population in the early 20th century to less than two percent today. Between 1992 and 2007, the number of Grange members fell by 40%.
The Grange Mission: The Grange strengthens individuals, families and communities through grassroots action, service, education, advocacy and agriculture awareness.
Adirondack Grange #530 is still to this day an active Grange and we work with other community organizations to support our community.
The Adirondack Grange is actively looking for new members and all are welcome. If you are interested in joining our organization you may contact President, Terri Luther (315) 854-4095 or Secretary, Laura Miller (315) 486-3601. Or you can join us for a meeting to see what we are all about.
